A Heart-Wrenching Defeat for the Faucons in the PSHF Championship Final

The Falcons pushed to the very end at the Prep School Hockey Federation (PSHF) Championship on March 4 in Rockland, but Hawkesbury was ultimately defeated in the finals against Everest Academy.

The two teams felt each other out in the first period. The Faucons broke the ice in second, thanks to Kodiak Whiteduck, on passes by Jérémie Marcotte and Cédrick Théodore.

Everest Academy responded some 20 seconds later, but Hawkesbury managed to regain their lead before the second ended, when defenseman Nathan Everett scored his third goal of the season.

That goal awakened the Toronto-based Everest Academy squad, who came back strong in the third, beating goaltender Jean-Philippe Moquin twice to take the lead 3-2, with less than five minutes on the clock.

But the Faucons would not admit defeat so easily and they forced overtime when Felix Dufour bulged the twine.

Likewise, Everest did not flinch, even after taking a penalty in overtime. It was finally Alexander Ridolfi, with his first goal in 19 games, which sealed deal for Everest and gave a first PSHF championship to Everest Academy.

If was a bitter defeat for the Faucons, but the team from Le Sommet can be proud of its record of 16 wins, five defeats and 33 points, best in the PSHF.

The team is now focusing on junior selection camps where many Faucons will try to impress scouts and claim a spot on teams in both Ontario and Quebec.
