Despite a goo start to the season, Les Faucons had a tough time at the North American Challenge Cup in Boston, MA.
It all started on Friday morning, when Le Sommet took on College de Levis. While it was a relatively tame affair, a boarding call against Levis flared tempers late in the 2nd period. Despite the momentary turbulence, Levis maintained its composure, holding on for the victory.
Friday afternoon was another story, as Les Faucons opened up the flood gates, while the Rifles U17 had a parade to the penalty box in the second period, leading to 5 unanswered goals by Le Sommet.
After night of rest, Le Sommet had its hands full with its PSHF rival, Bishop’s College. Jeremy Doucet, the Faucons’ goaltender was stellar, stopping 32 of 24 shots, but it wasn’t enough to keep his team in the game, which they ultimately dropped 2-0.
Another afternoon game, another solid effort by the boys in blue. Each team fired at least 30 shots at the opposition goaltender, but only Geronimo Whiteduck managed to bulge the twine, giving Le Sommet a 1-0 over the Rifles U19, and giving them a semi-final birth.
Unfortunately, Les Faucons didn’t get the same result on Sunday, as the Rifles U19, who ultimately won the Challenge Cup, beat Le Sommet by a score of 2-0.
