Les Faucons are champion again, for the second week in a row!

The road to the NISIC Championship started on the morning of March 9th, when Le Sommet dug their talons into the Blyth Academy Bruins by a score of 5-2. Zach Leblanc lead les Faucons with a pair a goals, while Zach Chouinard, Felix Couture and Demyan Martynov bulged the twine in the win.

Next was Somang, who also allowed Le Sommet’s Kayden Myre, Nathan Pelletier, Justin Hadjian, Jules Delepoulle to score, while Zach Leblanc added his 3rd goal in 2 games, in a convincing 5-1 victory.

The scoring trend continued on Friday morning, as Les Faucons dispatched of Hill Academy 6-1. That same afternoon, Le Sommet faced Fort Erie, who just a week prior lost to the boys in Blue in the MAPHL Championship final. Cam Wiggington registered the shutout, as Fort Erie dropped a 6-0 pasting to Les Faucons.
Les Faucons toughest would come on Championship Saturday, when they faced off against College De Levis in the semi-finals. Xavier Roy was stellar between the pipes and Zach Chouinard added a pair, including the game winner, sending Les Faucons to their second straight final with a 3-2 hard fought win.
Hill Academy stood between the NISIC Championship and Les Faucons, and Shawn Anderson’s team was ready for them. Zach Leblanc scored a pair of goals and Xavier Roy was perfect between the pipes, giving Le Sommet a 4-0 victory and the NISIC Championship.

“This team became a machine the last two months, putting the game plan into action almost every game,” rejoined Program Directory and Head Coach Shawn Anderson. ” We put together 10 straight wins to end the season and a second half record of 25-6. Our overall record was 42-18-3. The best results in our 8 years history.”

Zach Chouinard broke a single season goal record with 39, previous held by Samuel Lemay with 34.

“I’m so proud of this group,” continued Anderson.  “I really hope the Junior A guys look closely at the ones who are ready, and there are plenty of them.”
